Hell & Heaven

This diptych, created for La messe des artistes with the theme «Hell, Purgatory and Paradise» inspired by Dante, took on its full meaning after its exhibition in the (non-desacralised) church of Saint-Pierre-d’Arène.
Exploring the Manichean principles of religion and spiritualism through a paradoxical and yet symmetrical dichotomy: the same face for hell and heaven, these two places so feared and coveted by the incarnate man. Leading us to question our perception of things and western symbols.
White. Dogmas and other lobbies participate in tear- ing apart the human race. This blind race to the constant progression of capitalism leads to physical and ideological wars which gangrene the human in its flesh. The zombies are already among us. What if hell was the experience we are currently living on Earth?
Black. The glass ceiling is no more. The cosmos is everywhere. Amongst the constellations that have guided humanity through time, the body is shedding to become etheric. Trivia is no longer a part of the unified field. Will we find our salvation in faith and the sacred immaterial?
Ce diptyque, créé pour La messe des artistes ayant pour thème “Enfer, Purgatoire et Paradis“ inspiré par Dante, pris tout son sens après son exposition dans l’église (non désacralisée) Saint-Pierre-d’Arène.
Explorant les principes manichéens du religieux et du spirituel à travers une dichotomie paradoxale et pourtant symétrique : un même visage pour l’enfer et le paradis, deux lieux tant redouté et convoité par l’homme incarné. Questionnant alors sur notre perception des choses et des symboles occidentaux.
Blanc. Les dogmes et autres lobbies participent au déchirement de la race humaine. Cette course aveugle à la constante progression du capitalisme entraîne des guerres physiques et idéologiques qui gangrènent l’humain dans sa chair. Les zombies sont déjà parmi nous. Et si l’enfer était l’expérience que nous vivons actuellement sur Terre avec nous même pour bourreaux ?
Noir. Le plafond de verre n’est plus. Le cosmos est partout. Parmi les constellations qui ont guidé l’humanité au fil du temps, le corps se déleste pour devenir éthérique. Les futilités n’ont plus cours dans le champ unifié. Trouverons-nous notre salut dans la foi et le sacré immatériel ?
